Walsh hero for Kieran's

Padraig Walsh's two late points in extra-time decided an enthralling clash and took St Kieran's into the final.

The sides finished level (0-12 apiece) at the end of normal time at Moate on Saturday.

With less than four minutes of extra-time remaining, Walsh (a brother of Hurler of the Year Tommy) scored a majestic point to give his side a crucial lead.

The wing-forward added another moments later, before Paul Buggy sealed the result.

Athenry led by 0-8 to 0-5 at the break. St Kieran's upped the ante on the restart and wing-back Aidan O'Dowd put them ahead for the first time on 53 minutes.

Athenry refused to buckle and James Divilly took it to extra-time.
