Tyrone face relegation battle

Fingal 2-11 Tyrone 0-15

TWO goals in the closing stages of the first half, coupled with a scoring burst on the resumption, proved the difference as Fingal recovered from a poor start to emerge winners at Healy Park.

Tyrone are now in serious relegation trouble, but things could have been so different had the Red Hands built on their whirlwind start to the contest.

A Damien Casey free in the third minute put the home side in front. They went on to completely dominate the majority of the first half – they led by 0-7 to 0-0 at one stage.

It took Fingal 29 minutes to open their account but crucially it was a goal, with full-forward David Smith capitalising on a mistake in the Tyrone defence. Another goal from Dean Flood kept Fingal in contention at the break.

Gary Fox opened the second-half scoring for Tyrone but then the visitors landed six unanswered points.

Gerard Gilmore and Casey replied for Tyrone, but scores from Sheridan and McCarthy clinched victory for the North Co Dublin men.
