Tipp forced into defensive reshuffle for showdown with Wexford

Cliona Foley

TIPPERARY have totally reshaped their defence and introduced three championship debutants for tomorrow's All-Ireland SHC qualifier against Wexford.

Young full-back Padraic Maher has been shifted to left half-back and with Paddy Stapleton and Paul Curran both injured, they have a totally new full-back line from the side that was hammered by Cork.

Declan Fanning returns to the full-back position where he won an All Star in 2007 and he will be flanked by Michael Cahill and Conor O'Brien.

David Young (Toomevara) and Patrick Maher make championship debuts at half-back and half-forward respectively, while Gearoid Ryan (Templederry Kenyons) also makes his championship bow in a new-look half-forward line.

Despite a recent hand injury, Keith Rossiter will start at full-back for Wicklow and Tomas Waters replaces the suspended Diarmuid Lyng at centre-forward.

Paul Roche returns to replace club-mate Lar Prendergast in defence, Tomas Mahon is in for Mick Jacob up front and David Redmond starts at wing-back in place of Malachy Travers.

Kerry's only change for Sunday's Munster football final sees Darran O'Sullivan replacing David Moran on the half-forward line.

Elsewhere, Antrim will definitely be without St Galls star CJ McGourty for tomorrow's qualifier replay against Kildare as he has left the county panel. Saffrons boss Liam Bradley has recalled Michael Magill, whom he dropped earlier this summer, to the panel to add more physicality.

Kildare have named an unchanged team, but Alan Smith and David Whyte are both expected to come off the bench.

Galway have made one personnel change and several positional switches to their side for tomorrow's Connacht SFC semi-final replay with Sligo.

Michael Meehan comes in from the start to replace Paul Conroy. Joe Bergin switches from wing-forward to fill Conroy's slot in midfield and Matthew Clancy moves out from corner-forward to wing-forward.

Kilkenny hurling boss Brian Cody has no injury worries but Galway's John McIntyre has delayed naming his team for Sunday's Leinster final.
