Tanner fires Longford

Longford 2-14
South Down 1-14

Longford continued their winning ways by accounting for an understrength South Down at Pearse Park.

The Ulster side were dealt a major blow to their preparations earlier in the week when Paddy McCartan, the father of three players in the South Down team and vice- chairman of the Leitrim Fentoneys club, passed away.

The midlanders took the initiative midway through the first half when Declan Tanner struck the back of the South Down net. Longford upped the ante in the final quarter of the game and a brace of points from Eoin Donnellan and a second goal from Tanner was enough to see them over the line.
