Louth were never headed when recording a seven-point win over TCD in yesterday's first-round clash at Darver.
A first-minute goal from full-forward Wesley Morrissey gave the hosts a perfect start and they went on to dominate the opening half against opponents who registered 17 wides.
with the help of three scores from free-taker Gerard Smyth, Louth led by 1-5 to 0-2 by the 20th minute and they went on to lead 1-7 to 0-3 at the break.
Trinity eventually found their range and had closed the gap to 1-9 to 0-8 when a disputed decision went Louth's way.
It resulted in a 13m free for the 'Wee County' which Smyth smashed high to the net in the 62nd minute to end the scoring.
