Champions Gort Community School -- this year bidding for their sixth Connacht Colleges senior hurling title in a row -- held off a late Portumna rally to make it into another final.

Central to their victory at Ballinderreen were four points apiece from Jonathan Glynn and Adrian Tuohy but Portumna will undoubtedly rue three injury-time wides.

The sides were deadlocked at 0-5 each at the break. They went on to swap scores until two on the trot from Kevin Lane and a fine score from Gerry O'Donoghue made it 0-12 to 0-10 in Gort's favour.

Substitute Ronan O'Meara fired over a great score to reduce the deficit for Portumna, but a more determined Gort team pulled clear in injury-time to take the win as Portumna missed several changes to level the match.

Scorers -- Gort CS: J Glynn, A Tuohy 0-4 each, K Higgins 0-2, K Lane (0-1f), G O'Donoghue , E Skehill, A Mullins 0-1 each.

Portumna CS: S Moloney (2f), M Dervan 0-3 each, P Brehony, G Keane 0-2 each, J Brehony, B Burke 0-1 each.

Athenry 2-14

G'way City Colleges 0-12

James Divilly was the hero for Presentation College, Athenry, as they won the other semi-final to book a date with Gort.

The corner-forward shot 1-7, mainly from placed balls, to see off the challenge of the combination side from Galway city on Saturday.

Two goals in the opening half proved to be the real difference between the sides with Divilly drilling a 12th-minute penalty to the net and Athenry never really looked back.

SCORERS -- Presentation Athenry: J Divilly 1-7 (0-5f, 1-0 pen), C Bannon 1-1, C Caulfield 0-2, G Cormican (0-1f), B Lane, J Carr, C Keane 0-1 each.

Galway City: T Haran 0-10 (0-7f, 0-1 sideline, 0-1 65), B Madden, D Higgins 0-1 each.
