Shefflin set for sideline role with Cats' U-21s

Henry Shefflin may be a top performer on the field, but his brother has beaten him to the punch in hurling management.

Tommy Shefflin, currently Ballyhale Shamrocks manager, has taken his first step into inter-county management as part of the Kilkenny U-21 selection committee appointed last night for the 2014 season.

Shefflin will be joined on an entirely new selection committee by Brian Ryan (Fenians), Liam Dowling (St Martin's) and Tom O'Hanlon (Mooncoin).

Pat Hoban (Mullinavat) has been reappointed manager of the minor side, while former Munster and Kerry player Christy Walsh will again manage the junior football squad which will participate in the British championship.
