Sheehan proves too slick for Fingal

Down 0-18 Fingal 2-7

Paul Sheehan was the standout player for Down with 11 points, as the northerners' second-half onslaught ensured a comprehensive victory over Fingal.

Fingal took advantage of the strong wind and began brightly. Their goal in the 26th minute meant they led 1-7 to 0-6 at the interval.

The introduction of Gareth Johnson at half-time for Down made a great difference, giving the side dominance and a driving force from the midfield.

Daniel Toner scored his first point of the match, while Sheehan began where he left off in the first half scoring five more points.

Michael Ennis continued Down's second-half dominance with another impressive score.

Fingal got their second goal after they were awarded a free; John Sheridan stood up and struck the ball past Richard Murray which was the Dubliners' only score of the second half. Down cruised to victory with further points from Conor O'Prey and Gareth Johnson.
