Ryan out of range for sharpshooters
IT'S pretty safe to assume that Dublin's Paul Ryan (right) will top the scoring parade for this year's hurling championships, even if such prolific marksmen as Eoin Kelly, Lar Corbett and Henry Shefflin still have some bullets left in their guns for Sunday.
Kelly leads that trio on 4-22 (34 points), 19 points behind Ryan on 2-47. While Kelly is a real hot shot, it's stretching credibility to suggest he can overtake the Ballyboden-St Enda's man, whose accuracy was a prime weapon in Dublin's fine campaign. Corbett is on 7-9, while Shefflin has landed 1-25.
Patrick Horgan (Cork) is on 3-38 (47 points) and will probably finish second to Ryan.
Kelly topped the lists last year on 3-43 (52 points)
Corbett is in sixth place in the top 10, which is quite an achievement as the other nine are all free-takers whereas Lar's haul has come from open play.
