Ryan goal turns tide

Col Phobal Roscrea 2-17
Col Mhuire J'town 1-11

EOIN RYAN and Jamie Bergin played key roles as Roscrea booked their place in the final with a deserved nine-point victory over a battling Johnstown in Boherlahan.

The Kilkenny side trailed by three points midway through the first half, before successive points from Conor Martin and a sublime Kevin Sweeney effort brought the sides level.

Roscrea picked up the tempo once again and found the net when a sweeping move involving Bergin and John Wall culminated in Ryan flicking the ball to the net.

The goal spurred Roscrea on and, with Bergin, Ryan and Murphy all finding their range, they led 1-9 to 0-6 at the break.

Johnstown picked up the pace straight from the restart and reduced the gap to two points, but Roscrea soon regained the upper hand.
