Westmeath had three players red-carded as they slumped to a 12-point home defeat against Derry.
Patrick McCloskey put the visitors ahead with a third-minute goal, and although Westmeath drew level in the 15th minute, wind-assisted Derry scored 1-7 without reply to lead 2-8 to 0-4 by the break.
Brendan Rodgers got the goal with an angled shot that went in via the fingers of Westmeath full-back Tommy Doyle.
Niall O'Brien was handed a straight red card in the 21st minute.
Any slim hope of a Westmeath recovery evaporated in the 64th minute when Liam Varley picked up their second straight red card.
Moments later, Rodgers whipped in his second goal of the afternoon.
With time running out, Aaron Craig became the third Westmeath player to receive his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card to compound a miserable day for the small band of home supporters.
