Qualter delight as Rossies rule

Roscommon 3-17 Kildare 3-16

ROSCOMMON came from three points down to claim victory in a thrilling final at Semple Stadium to collect their first title at this grade since 2007.

Kildare looked on course for their first 'B' crown as they came from six points behind to lead by three after a run of 1-6 without reply. But the Rossies responded with a run of five unanswered points and goalkeeper Noel Fallon, who had earlier scored a point from a free, ensured their victory with a late save to deny sub Sean Gainey.

Delighted Rossies' boss Seamus Qualter, who guided Westmeath to Christy Ring Cup glory in '05 and '07, said: "We weren't coming here to make up the numbers. I know when you get to finals, you have to win them."
