Oulart deliver masterclass in cutting Ferns down to size

Oulart-The Ballagh 4-18 Ferns St Aidan's 0-15

QUALITY flowed as reigning champions Oulart-The Ballagh put challengers Ferns St Aidan's to the sword in this totally one-sided semi-final at Wexford Park.

Liam Dunne had every reason to feel satisfied as his charges turned in the type of display that has seen them dominate Wexford hurling this year and they weren't flattered with their 15-point winning margin.

Ferns, the surprise packets in this year's championship, learned a costly lesson as their young side were unable to match the skill and cohesive hurling of the champions.

It was obvious by the sixth minute that Ferns were going to be way off the mark as Oulart raced into a 2-2 to 0-3 lead, the goals coming through David Redmond and Rory Jacob. The challengers, through Tommy Dwyer and Jonathan Dwyer, hauled themselves back into contention, trailing 2-5 to 0-7 at the end of the opening quarter, but a Nickey Kirwan 30th-minute goal saw the holders lead 3-9 to 0-8 at the break. Oulart kept up the pressure and on 41 minutes an error from Michael Walsh allowed Garrett Sinnott raise the green flag for the fourth time.
