O'Leary on hand to book Cork's semi-final spot

Cork extinguished Tipperary's hopes of making the semi-finals of the All-Ireland senior championship with a hard-fought victory over the Premier girls at the Cork IT grounds on Saturday.

The Leesiders cemented their own place in the last four alongside Wexford, Kilkenny and Galway thanks to their 0-13 to 1-7 win.

They had 10 separate scorers, with Jennifer O'Leary leading the way on three points. Joanne Casey and Katrina Mackey added a pair apiece and, though Jill Horan hit four points and Cora Hennessy goaled for Tipperary, they could never get their noses in front to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

Wexford continued their improved form of late with a 3-19 to 1-9 victory over Offaly at Wexford Park. Una Leacy continues to find the net with routine regularity and she struck the first of her two goals in this game in the 10th minute. It took Offaly until the 21st minute to get off the mark but Katrina Parrock's injury-time goal was a massive blow to them as the hosts led 2-7 to 0-4 at the interval.

Galway and Kilkenny played out an entertaining tie in Ballinasloe with the home side, inspired by centre-back Therese Maher, edging it by 0-12 to 0-9.
