RYAN O'Dwyer's red card in Dublin's Division 1A relegation play-off may prove costly -- but it would have been even worse if they had not drawn with Galway last Sunday, WRITES CLIONA FOLEY.

The Tipperary native's extra-time dismissal was his second red in the last 12 months and because of that his punishment will automatically be doubled to a two-game suspension.

But he can be grateful to team-mate Niall McMorrow for pulling out that last-gasp reprieve last Sunday, because it means he will serve the first half of his suspension in next Saturday's replay and will miss only Dublin's opening game in the Leinster championship. Dublin's provincial campaign opens against the winners of Carlow and Laois on May 2.

The Dubs will also be without Alan McCrabbe, who also got a straight red in extra-time.

But one bit of good news for Anthony Daly was the fact that Tomas Brady, one of their three cruciate victims last year, made a return to competitive action last weekend and played a full 60 minutes for his club Na Fianna in the county senior league.

Dublin's rematch with Galway has been fixed for Portlaoise on Saturday (4.0) as the second half of an attractive double-header with the county footballers' All-Ireland U-21 semi-final against Cork (2.0). The other Cadbury's All-Ireland U-21 semi-final between Cavan and Roscommon is also on Saturday in Pearse Park, Longford (4.0).

• Details have also been confirmed for the Allianz League football finals:

Saturday, April 28 (Croke Park) -- Division 4 final, Fermanagh v Wicklow, 5.0; Division 3 final, Longford v Wicklow, 7.0.

Sunday, April 29 (Croke Park) -- Division 2 final, Tyrone v Kildare, 2.0; Division 1 Final, Mayo v Cork, 4.0.
