Nolan boosts Kerry promotion hopes
KERRY were overly reliant on Shane Nolan but such was the corner-forward's contribution at St Conleth's Park that the visitors still prevailed to keep their promotion hopes alive.
Nolan recorded an impressive 2-10 to keep Kerry just out of reach of a committed Kildare, who fell to a fourth straight defeat.
The home side began well with but Nolan was in solid form and scored six points to give Kerry a 0-9 to 0-8 half-time lead. He continued to terrorise Kildare after the resumption with two goals.
That put eight points between the teams but Kildare rallied with points from Paul Divilly and Paudie Reidy either side of substitute Mark Delaney's 64th-minute goal to reduce the margin to three.
But it was Tom Howard's men that took the honours, leaving Kildare headed for the relegation play-off.
