Murphy's extra magic settles thriller

Wexford Schools 2-14 Laois Schools 1-14 (AFTER EXTRA-TIME)

Shane Murphy's late goal took Wexford Schools through, despite Laois Schools' dramatic injury-time leveller that brought the game to extra-time.

A 1-1 haul from Sean Stafford and points from Alan Murphy and Billy Kelly set up a seven-point lead for Wexford at the break, Mark Kavanagh notching all of Laois' four points.

Kavanagh slotted five in 15 minutes on the resumption to bring Laois to within a goal midway through the half. An incredible 53rd-minute sideline-cut from Kavanagh rattled the Wexford net to level at 1-10 apiece with just seven minutes left.

Wexford retook the lead through Alan Murphy, but there was still time for Kavanagh to send over an equalising point a minute into injury-time.

Wexford racked up 1-2 in the opening half of extra-time which was enough to hold off a Laois rally.
