Munster U-21 Hurling Semi Final preview: Clare V Waterford
Ennis, 7.30, J Ryan (Tipperary)
(Extra-time if necessary)
Two sides that have enjoyed plenty of success at minor level in recent seasons go head-to-head in Cusack Park tonight.
But with both teams taking to the field for the first time in competitive action, it's difficult to know exactly where they stand.
The home side still boast two members of the panel that secured All-Ireland glory in 2009 -- Pat O'Connor and Conor McGrath -- and their experience will be vital against a Waterford side who are sure to be well drilled by Fergal Hartley.
The Deise's recent record at this grade leaves a lot to be desired, however. They have only managed to win one of their last five matches. Against that, they boast nine of the team that won the 2009 Munster minor title.
A lot will be expected from Ballygunner brothers Philip and Padraig Mahoney if Waterford are to upset the odds, but, with home advantage, Clare look to be in the driving seat.
Odds: Clare 4/11, Waterford 5/2, Draw 15/2
Waterford -- S O'Keeffe; J Barron, S O'Keeffe, M Wyse; R Barry, P Mahony, E Madigan; P Prendergast, J Dillon; G O'Brien, E Murphy, M O'Neill; F Murray, P Mahony, B O'Halloran.
