Molumphy set for swift return

WATERFORD will have captain Stephen Molumphy back this weekend after his unusual 'call to arms' last Sunday.

A lieutenant in the Irish army, Molumphy had to dash off at half-time against Kilkenny to catch a flight abroad.

However, Waterford officials confirmed yesterday that his trip is "only a short-term thing" and he will be back in time to play against Offaly on Sunday.

The Ballyduff star was in Chad for a six-month tour of duty in the winter of 2009 but was still named captain by manager Davy Fitzgerald and went straight back into league action within a week of returning from Africa.

Joint table-toppers Galway could be without defensive star David Collins for their clash with Tipperary as he had to have six stitches in a shin injury he suffered early against Dublin. Iarla Tannian will return, having missed the Dublin match due to a family wedding.

Tipperary will be without corner-back Paddy Stapleton, whose rib injury has been diagnosed as severe bruising.
