McLoughlin ends Cluainín drought
Cluainín Iomáint 1-11 Carrick 0-12
Cluainín Iomáint bridged a 53-year gap when defeating Carrick at Carrick-on-Shannon.
A ninth-minute goal by Niall McLoughlin gave Cluainín the edge. Carrick lifted their game in the second half and took a one-point lead (0-12 to 1-8) when Clement Cunniffe shot them ahead for the only time in the 46th minute.
However, Cluainín, who last won the title in 1959 as Manorhamilton, rallied and after holding Carrick scoreless for 12 minutes, levelled three minutes from the end with a Garry Hickey free.
Man of the Match Michael Poniard shortly afterwards edged them in front with a point following a well-executed move and then Micheál Dolan made victory secure with a free.
