McHugh the king for Castle'

The accuracy of Michael McHugh, who finished with 1-11, helped Castleblayney wrest the title from last year's champions Inniskeen in a fairly scrappy clash in Clontibret yesterday.

Castleblayney led at half-time by 0-8 to 1-2, with Ronan Meegan getting the Inniskeen goal in the fifth minute. The winners dominated the second half against an Inniskeen team that was reduced to 14 players 10 minutes after the resumption after Meegan picked up a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident.

A goal by Barry Reilly in the final minute of normal time gave Castleblayney an eight-point lead and they went on to add another 1-1, the second goal by McHugh, which capped a fine triumph, coming in stoppage-time.
