McDermott sinks Fermanagh

GOALS were key as Donegal continued their excellent start to the campaign with a five-point success over Fermanagh.

Ray Durack's team hit a brace in each half, with Paddy Hannigan scoring two of the goals.

Home side Fermanagh had the brighter opening and led 0-7 to 0-2. However, when Hannigan hit home following a goalmouth scramble, Donegal were level.

Stephen Boyle later rifled home a second for the visitors and the half ended with Donegal 2-7 to 0-12 ahead, thanks to Lee Henderson's stoppage-time point.

Eight minutes into the second half, Hannigan turned a neat flick into the net.

The visitors got a fourth goal when sub goalkeeper Wayne McPhillips' weak clearance fell to Enda McDermott, who finished clinically.

Shea Curran and John Curran gave the Ernesiders hope, but a late goal by Rory Porteous was scant consolation.
