Makeshift Farney feel heat
Donegal 3-26 Monaghan 0-15
HOLDERS Donegal cruised into the quarter-finals with a facile 20-point win over Monaghan in Letterkenny.
Monaghan looked to have forfeited the game when the Donegal camp were told just before noon that their opponents weren't travelling. However, just as Donegal were organising a training session, it was confirmed that the Farney County would, in fact, field a team.
A cobbled together troop of just 17 players made the trip, but they quickly must have wondered if they had made the right call.
Conor Boyle almost single-handedly managed to bring a measure of respectability to Monaghan's challenge, but they were no match for their hosts, who were 1-16 to 0-6 ahead at the break.
