WEXFORD will be without talisman Diarmuid 'Gizzy' Lyng for their championship campaign, writes DONNCHADH BOYLE.
Manager Liam Dunne confirmed that the former county captain and free-taker won't be part of his squad for the championship opener against Dublin on June 8 after missing the entire league campaign with a viral complaint.
"Gizzy won't be in our plans for the summer," confirmed Dunne. "He has missed too much time at this stage."
The St Martin's man travelled to Australia in a bid to remedy the problem that had dogged him for a number of seasons during the Easter break, but to no avail.
Lyng rejoined the squad late in last year's league campaign and was a fixture in the side by the time their interest in the championship ended with defeat to Cork.
Liam Og McGovern (hip injury), Matthew O'Hanlon (studying abroad) and Diarmuid O'Keeffe (travelling) are also set to miss the championship for the Slaneysiders.
