Limerick look to young gun Hannon

Limerick young gun Declan Hannon has been named in the side to face Wexford on Saturday in one of two changes to Donal O'Grady's side.

Hannon, who wasn't considered for the defeat by Waterford as he was sitting his Leaving Certificate, and exciting full-forward Kevin Downes will line out alongside their former Ard Scoil Ris teacher Niall Moran in attack.

The other switch sees David Maloney replacing Damien Reale at corner-back. Reale has been ruled out with a knee injury.

Richie McCarthy is the other player to miss out.

Galway hurling manager John McIntyre has axed five players from his starting line-up for the visit of Clare to Pearse Stadium on Saturday, including team captain Damien Joyce. Cyril Donnellan, who scored a hat-trick against the Lake men, also misses out, as he has been struggling with a toe injury, along with Barry Daly, Eanna Ryan and Aonghus Callinan.

Ger Farragher and Iarla Tannian are drafted into boost the half-forward line, while the experienced Alan Kerins, who was only recalled to the squad a few weeks ago after a two-year absence, starts at left corner-forward.

Donal Barry returns to the half-back line and Andy Smith is recalled and given a midfield role. Shane Kavanagh returns to his regular position of full-back, with Damien Hayes assuming the captaincy in Joyce's absence.
