Laois are on up but spare a thought for Offaly
LAOIS pushed on again yesterday with another good win in the Leinster championship. They're going places under Seamus Plunkett (pictured) and Ger Cunningham.
They won Division 2A to gain promotion and with two championship wins under their belt, they'll feel they're in the right place to have a good cut off Galway in a fortnight. But all eyes are on Kilkenny next Sunday when they begin their quest for another three-in-a-row. It must be difficult for Offaly, knowing deep down that their destiny lies in how they compete in the qualifiers.
They've gone back since Joe Dooley left – I thought he did an excellent job with the resources available to him. Home advantage in Tullamore may be a help and we've seen in the past how you write Offaly off at your peril, but this challenge is a step too far. Brian Cody is back on the touchline, TJ Reid is fit again and Henry Shefflin will be back soon.
Before that, I'm tipping a Dublin win against Wexford on Saturday evening. Wexford will struggle without Keith Rossiter and Darren Stamp in defence. Dublin will find it a different environment to when they won on Wexford soil in the Walsh Cup and league but they'll still complete the hat-trick.
