Kilkenny ace Walsh back for more in shinty series
KILKENNY star Tommy Walsh will once again feature for the Ireland side in this year's senior hurling/shinty after details of the two-leg series were released.
The Tullaroan man is a long-time supporter of the competition and he'll be part of the John Meyler-managed side that will take on their Scottish counterparts in the first leg in Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday week.
The second game will take place in Ennis a week later.
Westmeath's Eoin Price will captain the Ireland side that also includes Shane O'Neill and Patrick Horgan from Cork.
The U-21s will be skippered by Shane Nolan of Kerry, and they will face Scotland on Friday week under lights at the St Joseph's Doora Barefield GAA grounds at 7.0.
The Clare camogie team will play their Scottish counterparts in a camogie/shinty international in Fr McNamara Park the following morning at 11.0, when President Michael D Higgins is also set to attend.
Elsewhere, Donegal's Michael Murphy and Kilkenny's Henry Shefflin were named the Opel GAA/GPA Players of the month for September after leading their counties to all-Ireland glory.
