Kiely points way as Faithful take wind out of Carlow sails
Offaly 1-16 Carlow 1-8
Offaly had the game in the bag at half-time when they led by 1-13 to 0-3, having made the most of the wind at their backs in the opening period.
With Cillian Kiely in tremendous form, Offaly exerted a stranglehold, with the midfielder scoring four frees.
Eoghan Cahill scored the goal in injury-time, finishing clincially.
An early point by Kevin McDonald in the second half got Carlow going and the full-forward then supplied the scoring pass for Chris Nolan to bat home from close range.
Both sides had goal chances in the second period, but the Faithful County held on with plenty to spare.
