Kelly the hero for Flannan's as Thurles pay the penalty

St Flannan's, Ennis, were inspired to victory by Tony Kelly, who finished with 1-10, in Nenagh yesterday.

The Clare side were four points up before Thurles got off the mark after six minutes. Points from Kevin Slattery reduced it to one before Flannan's struck for three unanswered points, all from Kelly placed balls.

Thurles controlled the second quarter, hitting five points without reply to edge in front -- Aidan McCormack getting four.

St Flannan's struck for two goals in a minute in the second half from Cathal Doohan and Conor O'Gorman -- and Kelly's 45th-minute penalty stretched the lead to nine to seal the victory.
