Kehoe in the groove for Carlow

Carlow 0-20 Kerry 1-13

PAUDIE KEHOE was Carlow's hero with 11 points as Kerry's hopes of promotion were all but ended in Killarney yesterday.

The visitors trailed by seven points late in the first half (1-10 to 0-6), after Shane Nolan slotted home the game's only goal from close range, but they bossed the entire second period to maintain their 100pc league record.

Restricting Kerry to just three second-half scores, Carlow were level (0-15 to 1-12) with 13 minutes left and Kehoe's only score from play then edged them ahead for the first time.

Shane Brick levelled the contest once more, 1-13 to 0-16, but by now the momentum was with Carlow and they kicked on in the final five minutes, scoring four unanswered points through Mark Brennan, Craig Doyle and a Kehoe brace to seal victory.
