UNBEATEN Carlow had to rely on an injury-time point by sub Shane Kavanagh to secure a draw with gutsy Wicklow in their final game at Aughrim.
A goal by Wayne O'Gorman six minutes into the second half put Wicklow ahead by 1-8 to 1-6 and thereafter they set the pace with their best display of the year.
Carlow had been gifted an early goal for Mark Brennan but Wicklow responded to close the gap to a point at the break, 1-6 to 0-8, with all their points scored by Andy O'Brien.
This was no one-man show, with Ronan Keddy, Eamon Kearns and Stephen Kelly giving superb performances too, Kelly having lined out for Wicklow's footballers against Leitrim beforehand.
Wicklow led 1-11 to 1-8 with three minutes left but supersub Kavanagh scored Carlow's last three points, from frees and the leveller from a '65'.
