Kavanagh rides to the rescue
London 2-17 Carlow 2-17
Marty Kavanagh got Carlow out of jail at Ruislip as his last-gasp point snatched a thrilling draw.
The St Mullins forward scored two early goals and he came to his side's rescue in the second minute of added time as he converted the last of four unanswered points.
"It was a poor performance; we looked very nervous," said Carlow boss John Meyler.
After Kavanagh's brace, Luke Hands' goal put the Exiles in front on 21 minutes, and they led 1-11 to 2-5 at the interval, having played with the wind.
Martin Duggan's 38th-minute goal and an excellent point by Peter Phelan had them seven points up.
Carlow's fitness came to the fore in the final quarter and substitute Jack Kavanagh cracked over three long-range points, and injury-time scores from Sean Murphy and Marty Kavanagh restored parity.
Phelan had a late chance to win the game for the home side but he pulled his effort wide.
"To be pegged back in the 72nd minute is heartbreaking," said London manager Tommy Harrell. "I'm very proud of the lads though. It was a fantastic performance."
