I nearly put my foot through TV – O'Gorman
WEXFORD legend Larry O'Gorman says that he nearly put his foot "through the television" as he watched Michael Duignan slate the Slaneysiders last Sunday.
Former Offaly star Duignan, a pundit on 'The Sunday Game', slammed Wexford for dirty play against Dublin in last Saturday's Leinster SHC quarter-final replay.
While O'Gorman accepts that Wexford "did silly, stupid things," he was annoyed at the nature of Duignan's criticism. "I nearly put my foot through the television. I know he had a point to make, but it looked like he had something against us," he said.
"I was at a funeral on Monday and all the talk was about what Duignan had said on the TV.
"A lot of fellas said to me that he'd want to remember 1998 and a lot of things about hurling in his day.
"He went over the top a bit."
O'Gorman admitted he was "disappointed" by some of the incidents that tarnished the match.
"I was disappointed in Wexford, disappointed by what happened. Lads don't set out to do that, so it must be something going on in your own head.
"Dublin kept their cool more than we did. They were a little bit over the top at times, but if you get away with it, you get away with it," he added.
However, O'Gorman has backed former team-mate and current Wexford boss Liam Dunne to revive the Model County's season.
Wexford host Antrim at Wexford Park on Saturday, with the winners then taking on Carlow.
