Horan brace eases way for Tipperary

Tipperary 2-16
Cork 1-9

Cathal Horan bagged two first-half goals as Tipperary recorded a easy 10-point win over Cork in this semi-final play-off in Thurles.

The impish Mullinahone star struck in the ninth and 27th minutes as the Premier County set up a semi-final meeting with Clare.

Liam McGrath eclipsed Horan in the scoring stakes with a nine-point haul from placed balls against a Cork side that hit just five points from play in front of 2,137 spectators.

Cork, having played with the breeze in the opening half, trailed by 0-8 to 2-5 at the break. But the Leesiders hauled themselves to within a point five minutes after half-time when Pa O'Callaghan netted but Tipp pulled away with minimum fuss as Cork then went 19 minutes without a score.
