Henry accuracy the difference for Derry

DERRY produced a strong display, with some brilliantly accurate free-taking by Paddy Henry helping them to overcome Down in Pairc Esler, Newry, yesterday.

Their task was made easier as Down were reduced to 14 when Conor Mageean received a straight red card for an incident off the ball.

Derry were always in control and led from the start. Down managed to keep in touch but Derry went in at half-time 0-12 to 0-9 ahead.

The visitors restarted strongly, scoring a quick goal and four points in the space of six minutes, with Henry scoring the goal. Down fought back but Derry maintained their advantage and deserved their winning margin
