Hayes on the double to crush Burt
Burt's campaign came to an end in Birmingham yesterday as All-Britain Junior Champions Fullen Gaels from Manchester cruised into the semi-finals.
First-half goals by Kevin Hayes and Paddy Breen helped push Gaels ahead. Stephen Gillespie and Michael McCann attempted to rally Burt with three points, but the Donegal men found themselves seven points in arrears at the break.
Conor Cafferkey drove goal number three past Paul O'Brien just after the restart and despite Niall Campbell's goal, the visitors were unable to make sufficient inroads into the deficit. Hayes round-ed off the winners' goal spree with his second on the hour.
