Glory for Donegal
Donegal overcame having Ronan McDermott sent off two minutes into the second half to claim victory over Roscommon in Croke Park.
The Tír Conaill men took the honours just two years after garnering the Lory Meagher Cup, with goals from Seán McVeigh, Paddy Hannigan and Paul Sheridan, allied with Lee Henderson's 10-point contribution, pivotal.
It was very tough luck on Roscommon sharpshooter Gerry Fallon, who finished with 2-9 of his side's tally. Crucially though, Donegal had a greater spread of scores.
McVeigh's goal was the highlight of the first half, with the left half-forward gathering possession 45 metres out on the Hogan Stand sideline before heading towards Hill 16. Leaving Seán Melia in his wake, he sent an unstoppable shot from an angle to the Roscommon net.
