Glenealy victory marred by brawl

Wicklow SHC semi-finals

All hell broke loose at the end of what had been a competitive, but clean clash in Pearses Park, Arklow between Glenealy and Bray Emmetts on Saturday.

A late pull by a Bray Emmetts player on a Glenealy man sparked a mass ruckus as players from both sides got involved.

As the referee tried to regain control, the fighting then spread to the sideline, with officials in both dug-outs getting involved.

Glenealy won the game comfortably, 2-19 to 0-8, with Leighton Glynn bagging nine points for the victors.

They will face Carnew in the final after the reigning champions saw off Kiltegan 1-15 to 0-11. Kiltegan led by 0-7 to 0-5 at the break and were ahead by 0-11 to 0-8 with 12 minutes to go.

Brian Osbourne blasted home a levelling goal and Kiltegan's challenge fizzled out as they failed to score for the rest of the game.
