Ghee sinks Donegal

Fourteen-man Donegal crashed to their second successive final defeat in this competition as Garrett Ghee inspired Longford to victory at Croke Park.

Slashers marksman Ghee scored six first-half points as Donegal captain Colm Breathnach saw red after just seven minutes. His first-minute booking was harsh, but his pull on Joe O'Brien was reckless and left his side with an uphill battle.

The Ulstermen rallied briefly after the break, with goalkeeper Paul O'Brien saving Declan Tanner's penalty and Lee Henderson pouncing for a goal as they narrowed the gap to two points.

But a superb goal from Ghee restored Longford's lead and they eased home from there, the corner-forward finishing with 1-9.
