Flynn preaches caution as Down press case for place in final four
DOWN kept their hopes up of remaining in the hunt for the cup by overcoming neighbours Armagh at Crossmaglen.
Yet for all his team's supremacy, Down coach Paul Flynn, the former Waterford ace, is preaching caution as his side eye up a semi-final slot.
"We still have work to do. There is certainly no room for complacency and we can expect to face tougher opposition as we move on," stressed Flynn.
Down had streaked into a seven-point half-time lead (0-12 to 0-5) courtesy of some clinical finishing by Paul Braniff and, although David Carvill's goal and Declan Coulter's accuracy from frees and play helped to sustain Armagh's challenge, sub Donal Hughes put Down back on trick with a super goal.
Armagh certainly missed the combined experience of Ryan Gaffney and Paul McCormack and, given that this was the second loss to Down this year, manager David Kennedy clearly has his work cut out for the forthcoming Ulster championship.
