Faherty earns draw

Goalkeeper Adrian Faherty earned a draw for IT Sligo with a '45' in the closely contested clash at Charlestown.

It was a well-deserved draw for the Sligo students, who had been trailing by four points six minutes before the end.

But were it not for three outstanding saves by Mayo goalkeeper Robert Hennelly, the Sligo College would surely have savoured a sweet victory.

Mayo led by 0-6 to 0-4 and then Sligo hit back to take the lead six minutes into the second half. But when Aidan O'Shea grabbed Mayo's goal two minutes later, a win for the home team seemed inevitable until Sligo hit back in the 54th minute with a goal by substitute Garry Gaughan which spurred them to a draw.
