Dunne should have parked venue comments

It was surprising to hear Liam Dunne drop so many eggs into the venue basket for the Dublin-Wexford Leinster SHC replay. The Model County manager argued that Saturday's replay should be at Croke Park rather than Parnell Park.

"We drew with Dublin in the Leinster championship down here (Wexford Park) and we deserve to be playing at Croke Park (in the replay)," he said.

Apart from the fact that it's Dublin's call since they have a home-and-away arrangement with Wexford, there's the matter of whether Dunne (left) was wise to raise the venue question when there was absolutely no chance of the game being played at headquarters.

Does it not send out a signal that Wexford don't fancy playing at Parnell Park? Even if that is the case, best say nothing about it.

A cuter response would have been: "Phoenix Park, Dalymount Park, O'Toole Park, we don't care – just bring it on."
