Duggan delivers in spades for impressive Flannan's
Holders Colaisti na nDeise suffered their first defeat of this year's competition as they lost 0-16 to 2-9 against St Flannan's College.
Goals from Seamus Keating and Colin Dunford gave Colaisti na nDeise a 2-6 to 0-7 half-time lead, but the Dungarvan combination were pegged back in the second half.
Bobby Duggan finished with 0-10 for Flannan's, while David Conroy and Martin O'Leary got 0-2 each. That win leaves Flannan's top of Group D, in which Doon CBS also won yesterday, beating St Caimin's by 1-21 to 2-10.
Darragh O'Donovan got 0-10 for Doon while Pat Ryan scored 1-5, with Ben O'Gorman and Shane Gleeson getting the goals for Caimin's.
In Group A, Sean Hogan netted a hat-trick with Dessie Hutchinson shooting seven points as De La Salle of Waterford city enjoyed a comfortable 3-15 to 0-6 victory over St Colman's College. The other two scheduled games in that group -- Clonmel CBS v Castletroy College and Ardscoil Ris against Colaisti Chiarrai -- were postponed, as was the Group C clash of Hamilton High School and Nenagh CBS.
In the Group C game that did go ahead, Thurles CBS made it two wins from two as Stephen Cahill scored six points in a 0-13 to 2-3 win over Midleton CBS, for whom Shane Hegarty and David Cahill struck for maximums.
In Group B, Blackwater CS moved to the top of the table as they beat Abbey CBS by 1-13 0-7.
Michael Kearney scored 1-3 for the Lismore school, who led by 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time, with Shane Bennett getting 0-7 and David Geary notching 0-3, including two sideline cuts. Midfielders Paudie Coleman and John Ring, as well as centre-back Conor Murray, shone for Blackwater.
