Dubs' late goal blitz

An extraordinary late goal blitz proved decisive in ensuring victory for South Dublin in a high-tempo encounter at Sancta Maria College yesterday.
Leading by 3-8 to 2-8 with just five minutes remaining, South Dublin finished much the stronger with a brace of goals from Glen Whelan, and one each from Niko Salvino, Stephen Harrington and Brian McCarty handing them an emphatic win.
South Dublin made the better start with a third-minute goal from Karl Russell, but St Mary's soon settled to register scores from Robbie Farrell (two), Jim White and Paddy O'Leary.
Mary's were given a lifeline on 49 minutes when Sean O'Gorman finished to the net, but the Wexford side were eventually blown away by South Dublin's late rally.
