Dubs ease past NUI

Dublin 2-16

NUI Galway 0-12

David Curtin grabbed a crucial goal as Dublin cruised to a convincing Walsh Cup win over NUI Galway at Portmarnock.

Alan McCrabbe's clever 57th-minute free fashioned the opportunity for Curtin, who drilled a delightful shot past impressive NUI Galway goalkeeper Donal Tuohy.

Kevin Flynn had notched a first-half goal for Dublin, but the students ended the opening period with four points on the spin as the teams went in deadlocked at the interval, 1-5 to 0-8.

But Dublin ruled matters in the second half with Johnny Kelly and Curtin providing a menacing attacking threat.
