Doyle pounces for Castletroy

Castletroy 1-14 Kerry Colleges 2-10

Wing-forward Edward Doyle's 61st-minute point secured a historic first win for Castletroy on their debut in the competition at Feenagh.

Castletroy dominated the opening half, with full-forward Cillian Enright scoring 0-7, and points from Gearoid Hegarty, Andrew La Touch Cosgrave and William Shanahan giving them a 0-10 to 0-5 lead at the break.

The Limerick side then got a fortuitous goal after the restart, when Enright's shot dropped under the stick of Kerry 'keeper Brendan Dunne. Kerry staged a dramatic late fightback, with goals from Ricky Heffernan and Daniel Collins levelling it, but Doyle fired over the winnier.
