Devine inspiration crucial for Tyrone

Tyrone 2-14 Monaghan 0-15

A hungrier Tyrone picked up their first points of the campaign when they saw off Monaghan in Clones.

Tyrone controlled the game throughout, although Monaghan did have their moments.

Central to Tyrone's win was Padraig McHugh in midfield while Damien Casey had nine points. Tyrone got off to the best possible start with a goal by Kiefer Morgan after just 30 seconds and when Gerard Gilmore quickly rattled over two points the writing was on the wall for the home side.

Tyrone led at 1-6 to 0-5 half-time and consolidated in the second half. Michael McHugh kept Monaghan in touch with eight points but, when Marc Devine scored Tyrone's second goal, it was effectively game over.
