Deay puts Lilies on right track
Kildare 2-16 Derry 0-10
A scintillating first-half performance saw Kildare claim an unexpected victory over Derry at Celtic Park.
The Lilywhites were on top from the very start as the Derry backline struggled to cope.
The game was effectively over as a contest by half-time, with Kildare in front by 1-9 to 0-3, Bernard Deay dispatching a low shot to the corner of Darryl McDermott's goal on 16 minutes.
Derry improved on the restart and a flurry of points threatened a comeback, but a counterattacking move finished with Ross Kelly finding the net.
Kildare now progress to a semi-final meeting with Meath.
