Deadly Divilly downs Celbridge

Confey 1-16 Celbridge 0-14 Kildare SHC Final

Daragh O Conchuir

Confey halted Celbridge's bid for a fourth title in a row with a stunning five-point victory in an entertaining contest at Newbridge.

They got the ideal start when John O'Neill scored the game's only goal after just 42 seconds and they finished the half strongly with three consecutive points to lead by 1-9 to 0-6 at the half-time break.

Celbridge fought hard but the closest they got to Confey all day was four points -- they simply couldn't peg them back.

Confey midfielder Paul Divilly was deadly accurate from placed balls, while Daragh Nolan was on fire from play for the eventual champions.

The duo scored 13 points between them and that was enough to keep Celbridge at bay.
