ANTHONY Daly won't be rushing any of his injured stars back into action and says the Dubs will follow the template used by Henry Shefflin last year to try and get their cruciate victims ready for the championship.
The Dublin hurling boss revealed yesterday that cruciate knee ligament sufferers Conal Keaney, Tomas Brady and Stephen Hiney will all miss the National League, with Keaney and Brady targeting a Leinster semi-final in June for their comeback.
"So far so good, they are really working hard. But they'll see no league. Stephen won't see the Leinster Championship, he still has a load to do -- they were up the mountains cycling this morning," revealed Daly.
"You have to respect the cruciate. You have to look at what Shefflin did last year and timed his run to get back for the Leinster semi-final and that's the way we'd be looking at the lads."
Daly was speaking in Thomas Davis GAA grounds in Tallaght after watching his Dublin selection come out on top in the annual clash with the Dubs Stars, a team drawn from the cream of the capital's club sides.
The Dublin boss described the match as "a pipe-opener" to blow off cobwebs but professed himself happy with the fitness of the squad after the winter break and will use the Walsh Cup to trawl for talent.
The Dubs have challenge matches with Gort, Loughgiel and Limerick planned for the next three weeks.
Daly singled out young stars Danny Sutcliffe, Conor Clinton and Ronan Walsh for praise yesterday.
Ryan O'Dwyer, Daire Plunkett, Shane Ryan and Cian McBride were others to stand out, with Ger O'Meara scoring a stunning goal for the Dubs Stars, who trailed 1-11 to 2-7 at half-time after having had the icy wind behind them, before being easily picked off in the second half.
